Check wait times before you arrive
These security wait times show the average time travelers have taken to complete the TSA Security Screening and can be used to help you know what to expect before arriving at the airport. Keep in mind a number of factors can influence the time you will spend in security and arrive early to ease travel day stress.
Note: TSA and Airlines recommend arriving 90 minutes to two hours prior to scheduled departure for domestic flights. The average security checkpoint waits should be used for informational purposes and are not a guarantee of what your wait will be.

How to have a smooth security experience
There are many items that are prohibited, some in carry-on and others in both carry-on and checked baggage. For details about the new security procedures and more time saving tips visit the TSA Website.
3:1:1 FOR CARRY-ONS
3.4-ounce (100-milliliter) bottle or less (by volume) — one (1) quart-sized, clear, plastic, zip-top bag — one (1) bag per passenger placed in screening bin; one (1) quart-sized bag per person limits the total liquid volume each traveler can bring. The 3.4-ounce (100-milliliter) container size is a security measure
CONSOLIDATE BOTTLES
Place bottles in one bag and X-ray separately to speed screening. Be prepared. Each time TSA searches a carry-on it slows down the line. Practicing 3-1-1 will ensure a faster and easier checkpoint experience. If in doubt, put your liquids in checked luggage.
DECLARE LARGER LIQUIDS
Medications, baby formula and food, breast milk, and juice are allowed in reasonable quantities exceeding three ounces and are not required to be in the zip-top bag. Declare these items for inspection at the checkpoint.
DE-CLUTTER YOUR CARRY-ON
TSA needs to get a clear image of your carry on when it passes through the X-ray machine, which they can’t do if it is overpacked. Please keep it to the necessities.
WEAR SLIP-ON SHOES
You will probably have to take your shoes off to get through the TSA security checkpoint, so wear slip-on shoes if you can to make it easy to remove and put them back on. This will help keep the line moving for you and others.
ALLOW YOURSELF PLENTY OF TIME
For less stressful travel, allow yourself plenty of time to get through TSA. Most flights begin the boarding process 30 minutes before departure, so make sure you arrive at the security check significantly before that time.
